This is the first Japan-based webcam site we've reviewed (based on the fact it's one of the few offered in English) and although not well known in North America, DXLive is huge in Asia.
A community chat site, DXLive features mostly Japanese ladies broadcasting from their homes, but there are American performers as well.

The first thing you'll notice is the futuristic, high-tech layout and assorted sounds when you click on various buttons. It doesn't take long to realize you are not in your typical webcam site!
From the home page you'll typically notice anywhere from 10-25 or so, mostly Japanese ladies online. Click on any to open a Flash-based video chat window. The video chat window on DXLive differs from most others: There's a zoom feature, the ability to watch multiple shows as well as a translation button so your camhost can understand you if English is your first language (and not hers!).
In order to enter a private chat session you'll need to purchase credits in bulk starting at $49.95 for about 25 minutes of chat time. It's unfortunate they don't have cheaper "starter" package to let you sample first.
The connection speed is excellent for most camhosts, however I noticed the video quality wasn't as good for some hosts. It would be nice to see a connection speed indicator before you enter a private show.
In terms of support, they have a poorly-translated FAQ - but still worthwhile as it covers most questions. What is helpful the tutorial that shows you the basics of using chat. They also offer 24/7 support.

If you like cute Asian ladies then this site will almost certainly keep you satisfied. There are a lot of Japanese ladies here who, I should point out, seem to be into dressing like school girls and/or looking and acting young. I suppose it's the norm in Japan for such sites but I prefer (if only for morality's sake!) to be chatting with women - in age, appearance and they way they look and act.
Anyway, there are American and European ladies here too and the mix is good: I'd guess at any one time about 75% Japanese and 25% from everywhere else. |
