18Live is a smaller live chat site with typically only a handful of live performers including single ladies, men and couples. Each performer is available for VIP, Private and Voyeur chat sessions (explained below) with a few available for free group chat.
In order to enter any chat room you'll need to sign up for a membership, which involves providing a valid credit card for age verification. Note that you will be charged a one-time $1 fee when you join.
In terms of the shows available, VIP Chat and Voyeur Show both cost 1 credit/minute. Private chat is $3.00/minute. Each are explained below:
VIP Chat
VIP chat is where you will find the premium performers with higher bandwidth and better cameras. The performer is usually partially nude and offers audio. This is not a private room so other members are allowed to join in.
Voyeur
The Voyeur chat room allows you to watch a model in a Private Show (with another member). You will have no chat or sound but with full screen capabilities.
Private Show
Private Chat is where you get the "full" show, 1-on-1 with the performer and costs 3 credits ($3.00) per minute.
You'll need to install a plug-in to view their proprietary OdysseyCam - a fairly quick, harmless and automatic procedure. Right now this plug-in doesn't work with Firefox. The upside is a good chat interface that offers you a lot of control in the chat room and a very good quality feed - the speed of the video stream actually dynamically increases when the performer moves around, assuring a smooth picture at all times.
One bonus with your membership is that your login works across several sites, including CaliforniaSexLive.com and LiveXtreme.com. There are a few other sites available and more will be added soon.

The first few times I visited 18live.com there were about a half-dozen camhosts online, and typically about half of them were guys. Of course, if you like watching male shows, then this is good news! For those of you who want to see single women or live sex, don't despair: There was at least one couple and a few girls available.
